St Vincent de Paul Society

Picture
The St Vincent de Paul Society was founded by a 20 year old student named Frederic Ozanam in 1833. It was established by like minded individuals who wished to put their faith into action.

This compassionate outlook, enthusiasm and vision continues today in Australia. There are thousands of people who every day share their time, care for humanity and energy to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged people all around Australia. Indeed, for many in our community it is the “face of the Church” providing non judgmental assistance.

The central body of any Vinnies branch is the "Conference” – a group of Catholics dedicated to the ideals and work of the Society. Within our Jubilee Parish there are four branches or “conferences” of the St Vincent de Paul Society – Ashgrove, Bardon, Red Hill/Rosalie and Newmarket/Herston. Usually the conference meets once a fortnight for prayer, spiritual formation and review of the activities of the past fortnight.

If you would like to discover more about the work and ministry of our local Vinnies conferences simply ask any member.

If you are in need of assistance please don’t hesitate to contact the Emergency Hotline on: 3010 1096.

Vinnies Shops
Financial support of our local St Vincent de Paul conferences comes though the poor boxes located at the entrances of all our churches, the annual winter and Christmas appeals and also through the Vinnies shops.   Vinnies is your number one destination for affordable and pre-loved items. Everything you buy or donate inspires change in our local community.

Please support our two local Vinnies shops located at:
  • 16 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064
  • 2/53 Douglas Street, Milton QLD 4064
