An invitation to mercy The Sacrament of penance or the Rite of Reconciliation is an opportunity for us to be reconciled with God. No-one is perfect and we all slip up from time to time, but, through reconciliation, we can admit our failings to God and make amends. It is a tangible expression of God’s mercy and compassion. Many of us first encountered this Sacrament when we were children and, over the years, may have fallen out of the habit of participating and maybe even forgotten what to do. We shouldn’t let this be a barrier to receiving this Sacrament. In the lead up to Christmas, Jubilee Parish offers several opportunities for first rite of reconciliation. If you’re feeling a bit unsure of the process, brochures are available at each location to guide you in an examination of conscience, prayers and responses.
