Infant Baptism (0 to 3 years)

Infants are baptised at the request of their parents, usually in the first year of life and in their home parish.
At least one parent should be Catholic. Both parents have to agree to the baptism. One godparent must be a fully initiated Catholic and be 16 years of age or older. Other godparent(s) must be baptised Christian.
Parents who live in the Parish are eligible to enrol in the preparation process. If you live outside the parish you need to contact your home parish which is where you live.
Parents are to attend the compulsory Baptismal Preparation night at 7pm on the last Wednesday of each month. It is held in Sacred Heart Church opposite the parish office.
Their infant will be welcomed by the parish at one of the weekend masses on the weekend of the first Sunday of the month.
This applies for infants up to 3 years old.
For infants 18 months to 3 years old are asked to bring the child to mass at the church where the baptism is to take place the weekend before the baptism. this is so the child can be familiarised with the baptismal font and surroundings so as to be at ease when the baptism occurs.
